Though it may surprise people who have grown up in this current social climate, it hasn’t always been easy for an actor to be both homosexual and successful in Hollywood. Fox would go on to star in Transformers alongside Shia LaBeouf before locking in as the a lead in the revitalized Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. While Fox has had meteoric success as both an actress and a sex icon, she has never been shy about making a loud statement. Fox came out as bisexual in 2008 and has been very vocal about her belief in ‘open love’, that is a sexual attraction to humans first, not gender. While Fox gets taken for a party girl thanks to the image she’s portrayed in films the actress insists that is far from the truth. Fox says she’s antisocial and a complete shut-in when out of the spotlight.

One of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, Sir Ian McKellen has been dominating the entertainment industry since 1959. McKellan is known primarily for his work in pop fiction as Gandalf in Lord of the Rings and Magneto in X-Men, but he is so much more than that. The English actor has six Laurence Oliver Awards, a Golden Globe, a Tony Award and five Emmy nominations. McKellen has never been shy about his homosexuality and the actor has two marriages under his belt: Brian Taylor for eight years and then Sean Mathias for another 10.
