Penny lives across the hall from Leonard and Sheldon, and though she is very smart in terms of common sense, as Sheldon regularly points out, she is less well endowed in the educational sense of intelligence. Throughout the show, she dated multiple different men, including Stuart Bloom, but Leonard was the man she often returned to. She mentioned her troubled family and later married Leonard after several problems. They then moved in together after multiple arguments with Sheldon about it.
