Kobe’s father Joe, whose nickname was “Jellybean”, was an NBA star in his day, having been selected 14th overall in the 1st round of the 1975 NBA draft. He played on teams like the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Houston Rockets. The father-son duo played one on one games but Kobe was only able to beat his father when he was 16 years old.
