All in all, @forwardnotback’s Twitter thread and this situation surrounds one of the biggest questions in terms of first dates. What is the question, we hear you ask? The question is all about who pays. Does the man pay? Do you split the bill? Does the woman pay? Do you pay for only what you have ordered personally? This question has made or broken first dates in the past, and is one that is debated even more so in today’s day and age.

Going With Tradition
Traditionally, men have almost always paid for the first date. It’s considered the “gentlemanly” thing to do, and many people expect it. However, the times are changing, and so is this tradition. More and more couples on a first date are choosing to split the bill, and some women are even opting to pay for the whole thing themselves. Of course, it’s up to you how you split this bill, but it’s always best to keep in mind that you have to be on the same page as your date.
